Biker Parties – February 2007

February of course includes Valentines Day. Love never gets old, so celebrate it in your own style! I certainly will.

Over at Biker Parties, the big event to catch in the Northeast is the Philadelphia Custom Motorcycle Show on February 2nd through February 4th. Bike events, and a Tattoo Convention is coordinated to happen at the same time, with entertainment and lots of vendors makes this show sound great. You’re sure to have fun if you’re going. Admission covers the cost of attending both events.

As I look through the calendar, it’s not hard to figure out why most of the events happening in February are indoors – it’s damned cold right now where we are!

Biker Parties – January 2007

January tends to be about recuperating from the Holidays in December, and making the most of the longer, colder nights. This month, among a rare few other fun events like a ride in the South, and a club’s party up here in the Northeast, there is one Northeastern event that stands out as a must see this weekend:

With live music, many tattoo competitions throughout the event, lots of leather, jewelry, tattoo and piercing vendors and amazing artists all within the one hotel for an entire weekend, you’re in for some real fun and just maybe an appointment for that beautiful new tattoo or piercing you’ve been wanting. New Year, New Riding Jacket, New Art, New Good Health

If all goes well in this New Year, we will be getting out for more rides with friends and with larger gatherings. And the Holidays? They were great!

I was fortunate to be given a beautiful new leather riding jacket for the Holidays. Sleek, fully lined, padded at the right spots, flexible, vented, enough pockets, and really meant for the ride rather than just for show or walking around, this jacket has it all. Not that my other jackets aren’t up for the ride, but this one is all about being on the bike and taking off for favorite scenic spots. The only downside is I will probably never be comfortable letting the jacket out of sight when I remove it to walk around or hang out in places. Such is ownership of the finer items.

I gave some unique gifts to loved ones and friends, too. I love it when I can find just the right item for a person. What one loves would be puzzled over by another. Is it me, or does it get tougher to match gift to individual over time? Seems like people’s tastes and interests change a little each year, not surprisingly. But finding that perfect gift becomes a little challenging when the interests aren’t made known or are a bit arcane.

This year was the beginning of a new tradition for us, in creating personal Holiday greeting cards. I started with a new, signed Holiday card design using my original art, and will continue doing so each year. And the artwork on the card will not be repeated in card form again. A new one every year goes to our preferred card list. Feedback and thanks on this first year’s card were gratifying to hear, so we feel good about doing it this way for people who are close to us.

I’m looking into a few health improvements myself this year, particularly this month, but I believe in my ability to push past any weakness of will or discomfort for the sake of better health and a longer life. Yes, part of this includes changing eating habits, and more hardcore walks. Ah well, I’m thinking smaller rib eye steaks and window shopping for some of the walks. That should work, right?
